HOKA ONE ONE
Hoka One One was founded in 2009 by Jean-Luc Diard and Nicolas Mermoud to create a running shoe with better cushioning and support for long-distance running. Both former Salomon employees, applied their experience in trail running and skiing to develop a shoe with a unique design featuring a thick, oversized midsole. This design aimed to provide superior shock absorption and reduce the impact on joints and muscles during running. The first Hoka shoe was launched in 2010 and quickly gained popularity among runners for its comfortable and supportive ride. Since then, Hoka has continued to innovate and refine its shoes, introducing new technologies such as the Meta-Rocker and J-Frame, which have further enhanced the performance and comfort of the shoes. Today, Hoka is recognized as a leading brand in the running shoe industry, offering a wide range of products for runners of all levels.
HOKA Running Technology
Created with one goal in mind, HOKA ONE ONE makes running easier. To accomplish this goal they use three major technologies. The first is the Meta-Rocker, designed to promote a smooth and efficient gait cycle by featuring a curved sole that guides the foot through the stride, providing more comfort by reducing the impact on joints and muscles.
Another key technology is the Profly midsole, which uses a dual-density design with a soft cushioned layer on top and a firmer, more responsive layer underneath. This provides a balance of comfort and energy return, making the shoes ideal for long-distance running.
Hoka also incorporates J-Frame technology into its shoes, which is a support system built into the midsole to provide stability and reduce overpronation. This feature is particularly beneficial for runners with flat feet or those who overpronate.
